Kate Beckinsale was born in London on July 26, 1973 to well known comedic actor Richard Beckinsale (“Porridge”, “Rising Damp”) and actress/BBC executive Judy Loe. Kate was an only child. In 1979 tragedy struck Kate’s life as her father died of a heart attack at age 31, Kate was six at the time. The nation was shocked by the death of the popular young actor, but the outpouring of sympathy from the public didn’t help young Kate. She has mentioned the difficulty in the wide knowledge among the public of her personal loss.
In 2009 two of Kate’s movies (“Whiteout” and “Everybody’s Fine”) hit theaters to little critical or financial success. She also decided to take a break from acting for a short time. In a recent interview, she is quoted as saying “After ‘Nothing But the Truth’, I just woke up not being able to get a hard-on for being an actor. Now I have to surrender a little. It’s over. I think my sabbatical has to be over.”
What’s next for Kate? She just began filming a movie titled “The Trials of Cate McCullough” and is rumored to be involved in “Underworld 4.
